The event will take place both at the Peatland Pavilion in the conference&#8217;s venue in Glasgow, United Kingdom, and via real time online platform &#8211; virtual Peatland Pavilion. (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/globalpeatlands.online\/PeatlandPavilionCOP26Registration\" target=\"_blank\">HERE.<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The speakers of the event \u201cOrganic soils and peatlands in the Baltic countries: Mitigation measures &amp; monitoring, paludiculture and carbon farming approaches\u201d will be representatives from Michael Succow Foundation\/ Greifswald Mire Centre, Latvian State Forest Research Institute Silava, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia, Estonian Ministry of Environment and Lithuanian Ministry of Agriculture. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LIFE OrgBalt will inform international public about the project and discuss it`s preliminary results. \u201cParticipation in the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 provide an opportunity to inform a very wide range of stakeholders about the issues of organic soil management and what solutions research can offer to the overall development of climate change policy,&#8221; says Ieva L\u012bc\u012bte, manager of the LIFE OrgBalt project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event is organized by LIFE OrgBalt partners &#8211; Michael Succow Foundation and Latvian State Forest Research Institute Silava.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About the Peatland Pavilion<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first-ever Peatland Pavilion at the United Nations\nClimate Change Conference will operate November 1<sup>st<\/sup> &nbsp;till 12<sup>th<\/sup> , 2021, in Glasgow. The\nPeatland Pavilion will highlight the importance of global peatlands for the\nclimate, people, and the planet as a key nature-based solution to climate\nchange. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Peatland Pavilion provides a platform to exchange knowledge and experience of successful action on\npeatland policy, practice, research and innovation reflecting the value of\npeatlands and their role as major global stores of carbon, hotspots for biodiversity\nand cultural value but also in their damaged state, as large sources of\ngreenhouse gas emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alongside the physical Peatland Pavilion in Glasgow, there will be a livestreaming of all events on virtual Peatland Pavilion: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unep.org\/events\/symposium\/peatlands-pavilion-unfccc-cop26\">https:\/\/www.unep.org\/events\/symposium\/peatlands-pavilion-unfccc-cop26<\/a>  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the virtual Peatland Pavilion has a wealth of digitized peatland content \u2013 wide range of publications and data.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme of the Peatland Pavilion is captivating, global and diverse \u2013 please find it <a href=\"https:\/\/wedocs.unep.org\/xmlui\/bitstream\/handle\/20.500.11822\/37197\/COP26GP.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"HERE (opens in a new tab)\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/wedocs.unep.org\/xmlui\/bitstream\/handle\/20.500.11822\/37197\/COP26GP.pdf\">.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Peatland Pavilion is a global collaboration between the United Nations, Member States, NGO\u2019s, academia, practitioners, business communities and people. It has been created and coordinated by the Global Peatlands Initiative partners including United Nations Environment Programme, Wetlands International, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature UK Peatland Programme, Greifswald Mire Centre, Michael Succow Foundation, National Trust for Scotland, Scotland\u2019s Rural College, and the University of East London.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The United Nations Climate Change Conference COP26 is taking place in Glasgow, United Kingdom, from October 31 till November 12, 2021.
